Greater Piedmont REALTORS® (GPR) was invited to attend the annual holiday party at the Boys & Girls Club of Central Virginia in Charlottesville, VA on 12/1/22 to acknowledge volunteers and organizations that made significant contributions to their local clubs. Here they received the Community Partner of the Year Award by Boys & Girls Club of Madison for their volunteer efforts linked to Fair Housing. Greater Piedmont REALTORS® collaborated with Boys & Girls Club of Madison in April to educate and celebrate Fair Housing month. In addition to providing snacks and reading to the younger kids, they created lesson plans by age group that included videos and discussion about Fair Housing and the twelve protected classes in Virginia. They learned how REALTORS® work hard to help build thriving neighborhoods and are committed to the standards of Fair Housing. The teens were challenged to submit a poster that captured the theme “Fair Housing Is For Everyone” and provided all the art supplies and prizes for the winners!
“The educational and wellness opportunities brought to our Club members through the Greater Piedmont REALTORS® Fair Housing activities were tremendous,” says Geri Ficarra, president of the Boys & Girls Club of Madison. “Their continued generosity helps the Club to be a reliable resource to children and families. We’re grateful for their commitment to serving the Madison community with fun, enriching activities.”
GPR President, Terrie Owens, shared “We were so excited about this project with the Boys & Girls Clubs to promote Fair Housing month! The kids’ enthusiasm about our visit and understanding of our purpose was a great way to educate and explain to young people how passionate REALTORS® are about Fair Housing for Everyone. We are honored to receive the Community Partner of the Year award!”
